The UpFront Marketing team spends a lot of time working with remote candidates. Resume and phone screens left the team with an incomplete picture of their candidates. They looked to video interviewing as a solution to fill out the picture, without adding costs to their hiring process.
We hire a lot of people remotely and we really wanted to get a good feel for how they presented themselves and their personality.
This was something we started when we found Spark Hire.
We wanted to have something automatic, available to our whole team, and give our candidates the flexibility to do their interview when it was best for them.

Spark Hire has saved us a tremendous amount of time going over resumes and doing phone interviews. Their system allows us to screen and categorize candidates quickly and allows us to evaluate more candidates per hour. Our candidates always say how easy the platform is to use during their interview.
Before Spark Hire, we used to receive resumes, screen them all and then try to call to make an appointment for a phone interview. Once the phone interview was complete, we would have to enter all of the information and then try to sell the candidate to the client. Now we can share our video link with the client directly and they can choose their own candidates.
We have a link to apply for work right on our website for anyone who is looking to partner with us. The link allows them to complete their video interview almost instantly. We also have customized links that we use for targeted hiring for our office or our clients.
This was a challenge for us at first because no one was doing it. Now we introduce ourselves first to the candidate, and they are open to recording their responses for us.
I can't imagine our hiring process without video. Being able to see our candidates first has allowed us to hire the right people for our culture quickly.
When I received my first video interview from an existing employee. I had not met this person face-to-face, but I had an idea of what she looked like and how she interacted with people. I was really surprised when her updated interview came in with video. I knew then, that we could place candidates not only based on our needs but also based on the candidates' needs and wants. Seeing them looking back at you gives you a better perception of who they are and how they like to work and interact.
They shouldn't! :) We want to be the only ones with this service because it gives us such a competitive advantage and faster process.
