The hiring process at Contemporary Services Corporation was old-fashioned, using paper applications and in-person interviews. They wanted to improve the efficiency of their process by taking most of it online and decrease the number of no-show interviews.
We were transitioning from paper applications to online applications. Because of this transition, our previous way of conducting interviews was not going to work. At first, we tried scheduling traditional face-to-face interviews with the corresponding number of interviewers. Some days there were so many no-shows the interviewers just sat around. To combat this, we would double and triple up the schedule to assure a flow of interviewees and then one day everyone would show up. This caused a full reception room, candidates waiting too long to interview, and a poor candidate experience.
This was our first time. We were switching from paper applications and traditional interviews to online applications and video interviewing.
Our video interviewing platform needed to have a mobile app, be easy for applicants to navigate, have good and friendly support, and be reasonably priced.

The setup was indeed fast. The platform required very little customization for our purposes. We developed the questions we wanted to use, and entered them in the system. We have added questions and changed questions many times since then but since that can be done without any assistance from Spark Hire, it is quick and easy. Spark Hire makes our hiring process very flexible.
Our business requires us to hire a lot of part-time employees. To the tune of over a thousand part-time employees annually. Having online interviews compliments our online application process and creates a consistent candidate experience. Applicants can interview anytime that is convenient for them, 24 hours a day, and our HR staff can watch the videos anytime as well. If something comes up and the HR staff is needed for another task, they can go back to the interviews when they have time. If we are doing a lot of hiring and interviewing, then we can have additional people log in and watch interviews.

If the applicant does not have easy access to a smartphone or computer and camera, we have several computers in our reception area that can be used for Spark Hire interviews. Spark Hire improved our candidate experience and assisted in reducing no-shows to in-person interviews.
We were able to view the interviews anytime we want. It also allows applicants that live further from the office the convenience of not having to drive to the office for an interview.
At the time we implemented Spark Hire, our hiring team was much smaller. Those of us using it at that time saw it as a great solution. As we grew, HR staff was hired with Spark Hire as a fixture so they never knew anything different. The learning curve on Spark Hire is quick so new staff feel good about it. Several of the staff spend a great deal of time in Spark Hire due to the volume we hire.

For hiring large quantities of part-time employees, it is very helpful. It is especially easy to access for applicants with smartphones through the mobile app. The applicant side of the process is explained very simply and thoroughly through short tutorials.
