Q:

What inspired you to look into video interviewing?

A:

In my business, everyone on staff contributes to revenue - and their own commissions - by working on clients. Time wasted by my hiring team (and myself) with appointment-setting, phone interviewing, and interviewees who don’t show up for their interviews has a direct and negative impact on revenue and pay. We needed a better system to keep my staff working while aggressively hiring.

Did Spark Hire replace a similar tool or is this the first time your team is using video interviewing?

A:

This is the first video-based tool we’ve used.

What was getting started with Spark Hire like?

A:

Incredibly easy. Once I played around on the platform, it only took about a half hour to record my candidate experience videos and setup my question sets.

What are some of the results you’ve seen with Spark Hire?

A:

From those that decide to move forward in our hiring process, we see a 90% video interview completion rate. Historically, we experienced about a 70% ghosting rate among candidates who we had already invested time in, who just never showed up for their in-person interview. It was a huge waste of time and money! Since we’ve enacted Spark Hire, 100% of the candidates we have invited to an in-person interview have shown up.

How does video interviewing fit into your hiring process?

A:

We use it to replace our phone-screen, which was the first step in our process. But the added advantage is that it pre-qualifies only the most-interested candidates. We have experienced far fewer no-shows for in-person interviews because the candidate, simply by taking the time to record a video interview, has already identified themselves as motivated to be considered for the position.

What is the biggest impact that video interviewing has on your hiring process?

A:

Our results are twofold:

Saves time, which is directly proportional to my business’ revenue and my staff’s pay.

Gives us a really good sense of the candidate’s personality, which can be difficult to read on the phone.
