Goals for Video Interviewing
Mancan was looking for a way to present their candidates in front of potential clients before competing staffing firms could book in-person interviews.
Q&A with Debbie Lindsay, Vice President of Sales & Marketing
What inspired you to look into video interviewing?
We needed to figure out a faster way to get our candidates placed, because for our industry and market, the agency who got their candidate to the table in front of the decision-maker first usually got the contract. Typically, we are competing against multiple agencies lining up interviews and Spark Hire allowed us to get our candidate in front of the client faster and thus, get the placement.
How did you decide to sign up with Spark Hire?
We chose Spark Hire because it was quick, easy, affordable and not much of a learning curve to get it up and running.
What are some of the results you’ve seen with Spark Hire?
We have turned customers who require a personal interview into customers that require a video interview. This is a huge time-saving step in the process for us. They give us the questions to ask, the candidate provides the answers, and we provide the completed interview. The customer saves time, we save time, and candidates are moved from candidate to employee with one interview, the video interview.
What was your team’s recruiting process prior to using Spark Hire?
We would interview candidates, determine if they were a good fit, schedule an interview with the client, send the candidate, check back with the client and candidate, wait for a decision, send the candidate for second interview and sometimes more. Now, we send the video interview. The client can view it multiple times without involving us or the candidate and they make a decision to hire or review more video interviews.
How does video interviewing fit into your recruiting process?
The candidate interviews with us and then move into our video interviewing office, where they record their video interview. The recording takes no more than 15 minutes and then they are on their way.
How do you get your team members to buy in to video interviewing?
It was a no brainer. They saw what it could save them in time and labor, and they were sold.
What is the biggest impact that video interviewing has on your recruiting process?
Spark Hire allows us to make faster placements which means we beat our competition.
What was your aha moment -- the moment you knew you loved Spark Hire?
Our aha moment happened when we first shared a candidate’s interview with our client and they could view it instantly. It beat our current process which involved waiting for a client to do their own interview, which meant possibly having other agencies’ candidates get seen before ours.
